Spring 2018

During Science and Engineering week we had many activities going on in and around the school.  We were lucky to have so many parents, grandparents and carers join us for a morning of fun activities.  We hoped you enjoyed it as much as we did – thank you to all that attended.

We invited our parents and carers to join us for Number Day for the NSPCC.  The children and staff dressed with a number theme and took part in many number related activities.  We hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did!

In Maths this Spring Term we have studies measures and this included weighing ingredients to bake cakes!

We used our Science lessons to continue with the Measures theme and made our very own rain gauges.

In Maths this term we have been learning to sort and classify 2D and 3D shapes.

Following Instructions

We have learnt how to follow instructions to be able to make wraps and bread.  We used our math skills to measure ingredients before mixing them together.  We then used measured amounts to make wraps and bread of equal size.   The best bit of all was then being able to try what we had made ….. delicious!   Look out Great British Bake Off!

We have studied the artist Richard Long, who is famous for creating art from the natural world around us.  Have a look at some of the artistic sculptures we have made in the style of Richard Long.

In our Computing lessons this half term, we learnt all about coding.  We used the BeeBots to program and direct them around maps and pictures.  If the program didn’t work, we had to ‘debug’ and work out what instructions were incorrect.  As you can see we had lots of fun in the process!

In Geography, we looked at the different types of buildings around us and their construction.  We then used a straws to work in pairs and construct our own.
