Year 3&4 Athletics Districts competitions

Last week Year 3&4 and Year 5&6  travelled to the Sporting Village to part take in our annual districts competition. They competed in throwing, jumping, long and short distance running and the relay. The team did their best with many children getting through to the finals of their race. Overall, we came home with a Gold medal from Lucas B for his chest push and Aaron Ai a Silver medal for his 60 metre sprint.  Well done to all the team -especially on what turned out to be a couple of very hot days! Also a thank you to the parents who helped out this year.

We also attended our first Fustal competition this week. For those of you who are unsure of what Fustal is, Fustal is an indoor version of football played on a hard court. A mixed team of Year 5&6 participated in 5 a side game against 7 other schools from Basildon. The team played really well and we just lost Bronze place to Fairhouse in the deciding game. Well done team!

Intra and Inter Competitions

Here at Bardfield Academy, we try to get as many children as possible involved in competitions. There are two types of competition, inter and intra.

Inter Competitions

Inter competitions involve competing against other schools. Annually, we join the Lee Chapel football and netball rally, which is run for the all the schools in Basildon. The netball tournament is also entry to the County netball competition.  We also organise friendly matches against other school in after school clubs. Every year we enter the District Sports competitions where we compete against all the other schools in Basildon in athletic events. We also take part in a variety of competitions arranged by our local School Games Officer. These vary from cross country to tennis to swimming.

Intra Competitions

Intra competition involves competing against each other in school. This year, we aim to not only do this in class within our PE lessons but through termly whole school events where each classes will compete against other classes in their key stage. Below is a timetable of what is happening this year. For Health and Safety reasons, parents will only be able to attend sports day but all these events will be reported in our fortnightly newsletter and on the sports section of the school website; so please keep an eye out for any news. Let’s hope we have another successful and competitive year!
